Abstract
This paper presents a review of thermal comfort studies conducted in different building types in Nigeria. The review was carried out using google scholar as the search engine. Relevant articles were downloaded and filtered from Google Scholar, Web of Science and Scopus data bases. ―Thermal comfort‖,and ―Buildings inNigeria‖were used as the search phrases. The studyhighlighted on thecomfort temperature values and research methodologies adopted for the different studies. The buildings were grouped into educational, residential, offices and public. The study revealed that different building types had different comfort temperature ranges. For the educational building types, the comfort temperature ranges from 24.880C to 36.20C while for the residential building types it ranges from 22.60C to 36.80C. Similarly, for the offices it ranges from 25.40C to 32.20C while for the public building types it ranges from 29.60C to 32.80C. Therefore, there is the need to conduct more thermal comfort studies in other building types that are site specific and micro-climate responsive. These will pave waysfor better understanding of their thermal performances, enhance productivity and healthy well-being of building occupants.
