Abstract
Explosions produce shock waves that threaten the safety of facilities and equipment. The dynamic effects of shock waves on soil are a crucial concern in terms of pipeline safety and protection. To further disaster prevention, this study verified the results of field blast experiments using simulations. Simulations were conducted to examine the change in shock wave transmission properties over time and space. In addition, the strain and displacement of soil upon sustaining impact were examined. The results of these analyses can benefit engineering safety design and, ultimately, the safety of facilities and equipment. The study results also revealed that fluid-structure coupling numerical models can be used to effectively analyze fluid dynamics, examine the coupling effect in solids, and solve dynamic analysis issues such as geometric, material, and contact nonlinearity. The results serve as a reference for those designing protection for the soil overburden layer. Keywords - Blast, Shock Wave, Vibration.
