Abstract
The performance of optical code division multiple access (OCDMA) transmission - reception system has been theoretically analyzed in the presence of cross phase and self phase modulation. The bit error rate, signal to noise ratio, maximum allowed transmitted power of self phase modulation and cross phase modulation has been calculated. The system performance evaluated as a function of number of users, chips per bit, bit error rate, maximum allowed transmitted power, attenuation coefficient, bit rate, and received probe power using Matlab simulation. From this study, it is evaluated that, bit error rate performance degraded as we increases transmitted power, number of users, and bit rate. But if we increase the chip rate the performance will improve. Index Terms— APD, BER, OCDMA, SPM. XPM.
