Abstract
Engineering Ethics can be a challenging topic to incorporate into technical curricula such as engineering. Many staff and students are under the impression that ethics is strongly connected to their personal behaviour only and not the engineering process which in essence is seen to be inviolate. As such many students are unable to capture the relevance of ethics to their engineering process. Despite the challenge of teaching, engineering ethics is a crucial topic which should be included in all engineering programmes. From academic year 2023/2024 the department of electrical and computer engineering must incorporate formal teaching and assessment of engineering ethics in the programme to satisfy IET Accreditation AHEP4 requirements. This paperproposes the study of an effective approach to teaching engineering ethics to level-two (2) Electrical and Computer Engineering students which will easily satisfy IET Accreditation AHEP4 requirements. This paper focuses on the proposal phase of this study. The mandatory level-two (2) laboratory course of the Department of Electrical & Computer Engineering at the UWI will be used as the basis of this study.
