Abstract |
Multivariable systems exhibit complex dynamics because of the interactions between inputs and outputs. The quadruple-tank process has been widely used for control education to present many concepts in multivariable control, such as performance limitations due to multivariable right half-plane zeros or input-output pairing problems. This paper discusses the frequency dependent relative gain array, relative gain array number and Nyquist array plots for the quadruple tank system and addresses diagonal dominance and pole assignment problems.
