Abstract |
With advancing technology and an increase in the use of computer networks and internet, the risk of these networks being attacked has increased. A variety of approaches for detecting and preventing these threats have been proposed and developed. Intrusion detection systems (IDS) have captured much of the attention of researchers. IDS supervise the resource computer and sends reports on any anomalies or strange patterns. The aim of this paper is to explain IDS techniques and tools, as well as their performance evaluation. It is essential for researchers and research hubs, as well as security personnel, to investigate the potential of intrusion detection systems.
