Abstract
Abstract - There are many mobile applications that do not specifically meet the requirements of visually impaired and blind people. Thus, these people face numerous challenges in accessing and operating smartphone interface components such as finding a button, understanding layouts, interface navigation etc. An amalgamation of smart technology with mobile applications has the ability to grant such people new ways of reading, doing daily tasks without having to ask others for help. Such applications would make it possible to level the playing field and also become independent. The proposed system would have a simplified and context sensitive universal UI design making it user-friendly for the target audience. Mobile applications with features like image captioning, object detection etc. have the capability of turning smartphones into assistive devices for visually impaired or blind people.
