Abstract
The rapid growth and development in internet technology has translated into heavy investment by educational institution in e-Learning systems to support their traditional teaching and learning to improve their learners’ learning experience and performance. The fact of the matter is that the success of an E-Learning system depends exclusively on the understanding of certain antecedent factors that influence the learners’ acceptance and usage of such E-Learning systems. This paper aims to provide a discussion of the current E-Learning environments including their characteristics, limitations, advantages and the major factors that affect the acceptance of such technologies. It is concluded that a successful E-Learning system should consider the personal, social, cultural, technological, organizational and environmental factors. Keywords - E-Learning Systems, Web-Based Learning Systems, Learning Management Systems.
