Abstract
Forests are important renewable natural resources and have a significant role in preserving an environment suitable for human habitation and needs to be closely monitored. In this paper, we present experimental works and preliminary results of using GIS for wildlife management with emphasis on birds, bird population, habitat models and geostatistics that assist forest personnel and planners. We discuss GIS system components and habitat mapping and integrate with the field data and bird survey data. The initial results are encouraging and help in data visualizations. GIS queries ca n be integrated with other system components. Keywords - GIS, Remote Sensing, Spatial Statistics, Population Models, Geospatial Data, Wildlife and Forest Management Systems, Ecology.
