Abstract |
Oort cloud, a reservoir vast theorized of icy objects. Often referred to as a giant ―cosmic freezer,‖ it’s believed to hold billions of comet-like bodies, remnants of the solar system’s formation. This paper delves into the enigmatic Oort cloud, a theorized reservoir of icy objects at the fringes of our solar system. Through a review of existing research, we explore the current understanding of its formation process, the gravitational influences that shape its dynamics(perturbations), and its relationship to other celestial structures like the Kuiper Belt and the inner/outer Oort Cloud boundaries. We examine the case of Halley’s Comet a well-studied object believed to originate from the Oort Cloud, to illustrate the connection between these distant icy bodies and their occasional incursions into the inner solar system. Keywords - Oort Cloud, Pertubers, Kuiper belt, Gaint molecular Clouds(GMC), Astronomical unit, Hills sphere, Halley’s Comet. | |||||||||
