Abstract
The smart grid concept includes a great variety of advanced technologies, such as smart meters, substation automation, home automation with energy management systems. Existing technologies can also be improvised to cope with the new operations of the grid. The efficiency and reliability of the smart grid can be enhanced through the use of game theory based approaches. The game theory can have many possible applications within the context of smart grid such as demand-side load management, efficient power line communications, reliable distribution networks in micro grids and cyber security of smart grids. In this article, a careful review of some current applications of game theory in the field of demand side management has been made. The loopholes as well as the future possibilities of the studied approaches have also been analyzed. Keywords - Smart Grid, DSM, Game Theory, micro grids
